Classes

Group classes are geared towards parents & caregivers interested in safely biking with their children on cargo bikes. I’m a League of American Bicyclists Cycling Instructor (LCI) and I have an MEd in Elementary Education. In addition to group classes, I do private/semi-private lessons for children and adults by request.

Upcoming Group Classes:

Cargo Bike Maintenance Basics
Dates Coming in Spring 2025

This class will provide you with the basic skills and knowledge to complete straightforward repairs and troubleshoot issues that may come up with your cargo bike. We will focus on:

  • Basic safe riding protocol and proper helmet fitting
  • Drivetrain (what it is, cleaning, lubrication, troubleshooting)
  • Wheels on/off (how to mange wheel removal on heavy bikes, tire inflation, bike tube replacement)
  • Brake maintenance (difference in brake systems, cleaning the brake rotor, checking/replacing pads, adjusting calipers)
  • Bike storage & security
  • Where to turn when you need more help

Attendees should plan on bringing their cargo bike in working order, an allen wrench set, a flat head screw driver and an adjustable wrench.

Cargo Bike Maintenance Course Testimonials

I am new to e-cargo bike life and really enjoyed having a few hours to think about the bike and the parts of the bike and how to use it in day to day Boston commuting.
– Shana W.

Though having cycled for most of my life, e-bikes are still fairly new to me. I took the Cargo Bike Maintenance class about a month into having my Aventon. Kellyn and Alan did a great job of reviewing basic safety, helmet fitting, most effective locking strategies, drive train and brake pad maintenance, flat fixing, etc. What a great use of an afternoon! Highly recommend it, even if you’ve been riding for years but are – like me – a newbie to the E-bike world!
– Jill A.

I learned a lot of very useful information and skills from this class – highly recommended!
– Michael Miller
